Usually you just download an updated file that tells the game datafiles that there's an update, but I'm not sure how Milk does these updates. (sorry about the late reply but hope this helped)

I'd saw that it probably has something to do with MEGA, they fit the bill of being the "third party website", since u install the game from the mega website.
I dont know how to fix it, maybe trying to download the game not through MEGA(I dont think there is a link that is not MEGA) or try to install the MEGA app on your pc and see if that makes it compatible..
What you do is you download it from outside of itch so just open mega on your browser outside of itch but then you don't get the update prompt on itch when there's a update which is why you follow the creator and check your feed to know
They have mentioned a couple of times that the update is coming in "this weekend".
They also haven't been replying to anything for a while so I kinda get the idea that they are pushing for the end, making final adjustments, proof checking or stuff like that ya kno.
I'd say be on the look out for SOMETIME THIS MONTH (I know that's not much of an answer but still😂).

hard for me to say too much cause i don't really feel like the meat of the game has been added yet which i'm guessing will be the MC's power and that i'm guessing will allow him to train the girls. but i will mention that the starting trait system could use a bit of tweeking. there are obviously some systems there still in the works. but i will say when i was talking to the tech dude and i saw the smooth operator option but couldn't use it that was a pretty big feels bad. i didn't wanna get on the tech guys bad side cause i might need him later but i also really didn't wanna give him the video and that text option felt like it was taunting me. i would at the very least just not show the option if you don't have the trait so the player doesn't feel like their missing out but let them know what option their trait does give them. but i would personally like it if you could get around the trait system by doing some personal sleuthing by the player.
for example if i don't wanna give him the video but also don't wanna burn bridges then maybe i could talk to him and pick from a list of topic and one of those topics clues you in to the fact he is a fan of a certain idol. and if i talk to another character that is also fan of anime and idol stuff then they could clue me in that there is word of an underground hard to find sex tape of her that was leaked. and if you talk to your detective buddy he can tell you where to go to find stuff like that and when you get there you can buy it for a decently large amount of cash. it would reward the player for actually thinking about things the characters say and help build the immersion of being a detective. and the whole thing is done without handholding it just gives you the speech option if you already have the prior info. and the traits give you options to bypass these side quests you would normally need to do. i dunno how you fully plan to use your system but this can be used in lots of ways like like say meeting a guy in a back ally and there are some thugs there you could just beat up with the fighter trait but you get robbed if you don't but if you say ask around the area first you will hear that gangs will hang out back there and you should bring back up before you go to get around the trait. the common trait he will always have is being a detective so it would be cool to be able to take advantage of that to overcome what your weak in. and by making it an optional thing that the player can discover for themselves it will feel both rewarding and immersive.
anyway i hope this helped and keep at it cause i can't wait to see how this will turn out. the story that is there so far has got me interested and the hinting at powers has got me kinda pumped as well.
i mean there are lots of games in a similar vein on this site that play with with this more sandbox like style and almost all of them don't use a route system. not to mention that the harem route seems to be the required way to play the game. i'm not saying he needs to use my idea just that when you see what your missing get waved in your face it's a feels bad kind of like in demon souls dieing will half your health until you restore yourself vs dark souls 3 where you gain a larger a health pool over your regular one. even if the smaller pool in the expected health pool for both games the feeling the player gets from each one is important. the point of just not showing the trait choices when you don't have them is the important one. the rest of the idea was just an idea i had that i thought might improve it but it's up to the author to decide what he wants to pick and choose from what i said to build what kind of vision he wants. i understand i'm not the creator here and that he is but the best thing we can do as people playing it is give the best feedback to them that we feel we can to help him make a better game.

I just started playing this and I couldn't put it down until I reached all that was available at the time for the main story. Usually I have just a passing interest in games like these, but this one really hooked me.
I played on Android, and it works GREAT, but my only advice is to change the upper left hand corner (with the map/relationship cards/etc) to be bigger because the save button is so tiny I had trouble pressing it, and also to add a full menu button because it's not obvious how to get to the main save screen or skip dialogue. It took accidental movements and trial and error to figure it out on the second main case.
You could even just turn it into a button that extends to have the log, inventory, map and relationship cards, save/load, and options.
There's actually a set of Dutch twins who are racers (Formula 3 & WTCC) and Dakar Ralley drivers called Tim and Tom Coronel. They're pretty funny to see on TV and partake as judges/instructors in a program called "The worst driver"
So, I just finished playing this and I have this to say(for what its worth) (btw this will be quite long, cuz I always take pleasure *reviewing* games I really enjoy)
This is not a pure nsfw game its more like a game that is full of nsfw content (at least how I see it). This is Very GOOD you can play this as a simple but cool game or just to get some solid faps😏(the 3D models are great and animated).
The gameplay is kinda odd (in a good way) it has your typical LN driven story and the point and click (quite generic to nsfw game), but the way the story progresses as u 'play' detective solving cases and EXPERIENCE the *lore* of the world unravel is very UNIQUE.
The story is amazing, I honestly loved playing because of the story. It has many aspects that I did not expect. The story can be a bit over the top but it is super fun and I'd say they executed it quite well, since this is not even the full release. Its not SUPPER scary but that creepy ambient track is AMAZING, the eerie ominous sound really bring out how strange and out of place it must feel to be in those scenes and us controlling the mc (as the player) really feel that too.

Try to use a VPN app alongside MEGA 'cause you're probably having the same issue I had a few weeks ago. Changing your IP through said app should fix it.
I'm generally not a fan of horror games, which at a glance it looks like there are some horror elements to the game. What types of horror are included and how frequent do they come up? Are there jump scares in the game? Thanks!
Played trought it and all horror that came up in the current version was a scream and some tense atmosphere in the prologue and 1 encounter where a creature (somewhat like a skinned human) stumbles towards you trought a dark corridor (leading to the fight you see in the 8th and 9th screenshot) O and not sure if i missed it or its something only your charakter saw (as in it wasnt shown) but apparently during 1 dream a face of a girl changes to be more demonic) but thats all i can think off
The horror is not very strong I'd say (its not weak but not super terrifying). There are no jump scares. I'd say its mostly the creepy ambient track that they got.

You get to go toe-to-toe with that spider-thing after throwing hands with two other monsters before that: No-Arms Frank and another dude that has arms and can fight back.
I don't doubt that there will be other fight scenes especially if the only monsters that appear in-game are the size of the MC with no special features other than big ass teeth and claws.

Inteligent is pretty fun cuz u see all the cleaver ways he comes up to solve problems.

Bookshelf to right of spiral staircase. The selection spot is small, so you may have to search a bit.
You just need to download the new version. It should overwrite the older version and keep your progress.
